SUMMER 2013 VOLUME 24 , ISSUE 3 Lights, Camera, Action T rindieFest Film Festival is an annual event held each mid-September in Trinidad. Its objective is to help others showcase their artistic creations where industry leaders, fellow filmmakers, screenwriters, and movie-lovers alike come together to sample the works from a world-wide pool of talented individuals. It was also instrumental in connecting its 2012 winners with distribution deals, producers and/or agents. TrindieFest organizers, Kirk and Julie Loudon, were very proud of that accomplishment in their first year of operation. They hope to do the same for winners each year. TrindieFest 2013 will showcase a broad variety of film genres, guest speaker presentations, and other social gatherings for the attendees, festival participants and volunteers to share their experiences and common love of filmmaking in an intimate setting. The 4-day event starts on Thursday, September 12, with a ceremony opening the festival at the A.R. Mitchell Joe Estevez, Mark Stolaroff, Kirk Loudon, Museum, and ends in a private ceremony and dinner to actor producer director celebrate the top 3 winners in each category who have entered their projects into the festival. Tickets will be sold either for a single film, or in packages from 1-day to the entire 4-day event. Beginning on Friday, September 13th, they plan to have two guest speakers; Don Shanks, actor and stuntman from the film series "Halloween" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer," and Louis Morneau, Hollywood writer and director of the newly released film, "Werewolf, The Beast Among Us." These presentations will start off festivities for Friday the 13th Horror Night. On Saturday, September 14th, Colorado Film Commissioner, Donald Zuckerman, will be speaking on all the aspects of filmmaking and sharing his experiences in the industry. Between guest speakers, they plan to showcase as many films from the winners circle as possible. The venue for these programs will be Trinidad State Junior College, Berg Little and Massari Theaters, and the SCRT Famous Performing Arts Center. Ticket information and schedules will be posted online and in local papers beginning in September. For more information, please visit www. trindiefest.net.
